* To truly realize your objectives you MUST be realistic! Necessary to identify how we actually spend our time! Creating an effective implementation schedule means that you must FIRST understand how you are currently spending your time and determine if some of those activities are time wasters or “time bandits”. This is time spent on “unproductive” items. Some examples of time bandits would be: Unrealistic time estimates Unclear goals Negative attitude Over-Involvement Socializing Red Tape Lack of Self Discipline Attempting to do too much All of these items are things that can be addressed and must be if you are going to have an effective implementation plan. It is at this point that you WILL HAVE TO MAKE DECISIONS. For instance…if you currently chair a committee within your community that provides you with minimal value, you MAY have to let the organization know that you are reprioritizing and no longer have 10 hours per week to donate…or whatever time it is that you are spending on that committee. Remember back at the beginning I said that at some point you WERE going to have to make choices but now that you have set your goals…those decisions should be much easier. Each time you must ask yourself…is this activity helping me to attain my goals? Your answer to that question will determine if the activity is important. The objective is to spend more time doing activities that are meaningful to you and less time engaging in activities that are nonproductive or contradictory to your ultimate vision. You have to make choices...can’t do it all...so you have to decide which will bring you to balance. Now that you have addressed your time bandits…you NOW focus on the TACS! Be realistic – and be brutal!!!! * Last but certainly not least…our final key is finding ways to Maintain our balance. At this point you may be thinking…this is too difficult, too time consuming…if that is going through your mind…STOP go back to Key #1 and remember that if you want things to re
